Waterbury Meeting House Society "We, the subscribers, inhabitants of Waterbury and vicinity, do hereby voluntarily associate and agree to form a society by the name of Waterbury Meeting House Society, in Waterbury, for the purpose of building a Meeting House in said town of W., according to the first section of an Act entitled an Act for the support of the Gospel, passed Oct. 26, 1798. And it is hereby expressly understood that no tax or assessment is to be imposed on the list of the polls and ratable estate of the persons hereby associating, nor any member of said Society be compelled to pay any more towards the building of said Meeting House than he voluntarily consents to. In Witness whereof we have hereunto severally set our names. Dated Waterbury, this 4th day of April, A. D., 1823.
