The Paper Carrier
Henry Dewey, of Randolph, was the first regular paper carrier
for this town, by bringing the weekly news, and Ambrose Nichols,
the second. The paper carrier was always a welcome visitor. When
the tin horn sounded his approach, the children were on tip-toe,
and would rush out to the highway to get their papers, which
were read with great avidity. A paper once a week was considered
a very great blessing.
